Reflections From Those Who Have Gone Before
Going to Romania is like stepping into a lost, forgotten country... forgotten by the world, NOT by God! You can see God's hand of blessing, on the smiles of children at School of Heroes, in the hugs of the toothless old Gypsy woman, and the handshake of the man with the glass eye. When I visit Romania, I am reminded of how blessed I am. I thank God more and more for my Christian upbringing. When I fly out of Romania, I cry tears of sorrow and joy...sorrow that I am torn from my Romanian, Christian family, and joy that I know I shall see them on this side of heaven, or the other someday. The Romanian people are a blessing to me and a glory to God in their love and faithfulness. I can't wait to return to beautiful Romania when God allows it again.

I just completed my 5th trip to Romania. I have never met a warmer or friendlier group of people. They are hungry for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you ever wanted to get involved in missions, Romania is a great place to begin, and There is Hope is a great organization to support.

I have been to Romania seven times. In 1999, Tom Beal asked me to go with the group to Romania and I accepted his invitation. On my first trip, I came to know many new Christian friends and GOD richly blessed me. It is with great joy that I minister with our Romanian Brothers and Sisters. Lord willing, I am planning to return to Bistrita Romania in June 2007.

(Wendell went to meet the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008. He made eight trips with the TIH team, his latest trip in 2007 when he and his "wife to be", Sybil, helped with the first Vacation Bible School project. Wendell was truly an inspiration to all involved in our Romania missions.)
I was impressed with how devoted the Romanian Christians are to their faith. I was also blessed by their attitude and how very appreciative they were of our help.
In the construction area, I was surprised how they were able to accomplish so much with so little to work with. It also made me realize how much we have and how blessed we are to live in America.
